We barely ask ourselves how we’re doing or what we really need first thing in the morning when we wake up. Instead, we usually think about what we have to do or where we need to go for the day. We often focus on our responsibilities and obligations from the beginning and neglect ourselves. We should never begin the day without checking in with ourselves and giving ourselves attention because self neglect can easily continue throughout the rest of the day.
Next we should make sure that we connect with ourselves from time to time throughout the day. It’s not enough to touch base with ourselves only in the morning when we wake up. We have to continue doing it until we go to bed at night. This is the only way we can live from the very center of ourselves and not from our minds. Most of us think that our jobs and responsibilities are what make up our life. It is wrong for life is about us and not about how to make money or how to be a perfect dad, mom, employee and so on.
Lastly, constantly practice this grounding exercise every single day and make it a habit. When you set your chores, responsibilities, routine and work aside from time to time every single day and reflect on how you’re doing and where you are in your life, you will be able to re-center yourself and lead your life to where you want it to be.
